Signa Prime MRI Toy

The Signa Prime is GE Healthcare’s premier MRI technology. For its youngest patients, it can be intimidating to experience advanced procedures such as an MRI. With this design initiative, we partnered with Atlantic Health System and GE to develop a scale model design for pediatric waiting rooms. With this solution we introduce life-sized play into creating familiarity with the procedure and equipment through an interactive station with lights, sound, cameras, and moving parts.

Upon initial concept review, Atlantic Health System wanted to increase the age of the average user from 4yrs to 8yrs. This resulted in a restyling and re-sizing phase to maintain the same design elements but at a more matured level of experience.

Final Design: Implementation

The final design was reduced to accommodate prototyping and shipping requirements, along with a cost-reduction redesign exercise. This final design incorporates all of our capabilities from engineering and design to electrical and software features.
