TechGuard Connect® Charging Locker Firmware and Touch Screen App

Bretford partnered with Credo to develop the UI-UX for the locker touch screen application as well as all the firmware on the device that allows for both local control and web-based access through Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The Bretford locker enables organizations to control access to mobile devices. Users interact with a touchscreen, scanning an RFID badge or entering a PIN to check out devices. Organizations can customize the display colors and assets to align with their corporate branding. The locker system connects with AWS to obtain credentialing information, which allows access to the devices. Devices can also be temporarily taken out of service for recharging. Management of the lockers and devices is facilitated through Bretford Connect, a solution developed by Bretford.

Assigned Devices

Every user is assigned a specific locker bay that they can use to store and charge their device.

Check-In / Check-Out

Users can use the locker to check-out a shared device.

Shared Access

Users can find any available bay to store and charge their device.

UI/UX

Credo’s designers and engineers worked closely with Bretford, utilizing a user-centered approach to create wireframes, explore concepts and to establish a seamless exchange from design team to development team, and to deployment.

Firmware and App Development

Credo not only created the UI framework for the touch screen, but also the firmware, developed in “C,” that controls the hardware and interacts with AWS to keep everything in sync. Credo also incorporated an on-device OS (FreeRTOS) to handle all the complexities of the system.
