A Dental Applicator for Rapidly Heating and Applying Composite

Vista Apex Dental Products has revolutionized composite delivery with the new Phasor™ composite warming system. This patent-pending device is the first of its kind, using near infrared technology to rapidly warm and apply the contents of standard composite compules, for applications in repairing tooth damage and decay. The Phasor controls the composite flow rate and temperature, heating in a short amount of time, greatly reducing chair time for the patient and allowing for more procedures in a day for the dental practitioner.

Design Research

Through observation and prototyping we were able to evaluate the ergonomics of the Phasor in low fidelity measures. By comparing with other products of similar handling, we can inform the design phase to sufficiently serve the ergonomic needs.

Industrial Design

Our designers developed rounds of sketches that captured the user interface, technology, visual form language, branding, charging, and cohesiveness as a unit of products and parts. Credo designers developed the product logo and user interface for the Phasor to help create a cohesive identity throughout the product kit.
